Q&A: what color walls goes with a green marble fireplace?

Question by jpertello: what color walls goes with a green marble fireplace?
the fireplace has white wood trim and green marble. It’s a pedestal type fireplace (a foot up from the floor). The large room it’s in adjoins a kitchen with dark cherry wood and dark green granite and stainless steel appliances. So what color do I do the walls? There’s also a large French door so the room gets plenty of light. And has a medium color red oak floor. Someone who knows how to decorate, please help!

A very nice deep burgundy goes great with most greens. And since your room gets lots of light it should not make the room appear to much smaller.

Q&A: How do I keep my 1 year old off my fireplace?

Question by smmbcw: How do I keep my 1 year old off my fireplace?
My daughter just turned 1 and has quickly learned how to climb. She can get up on the brick hearth of my fireplace. I also have built in shelves with lots of knick knacks. How can I keep her from getting up onto the hearth, without spending hundreds of dollars in special gates?
My hearth is also about 8 feet long.

Make it clear that its not allowed and also buy some gates. I am sure you can find some that are not expensive and it will be worth the money so that both your daughter and your fireplace remain intact.

how to secure a fire proof gate around a pellet stove?

Question by joy: how to secure a fire proof gate around a pellet stove?
I am starting a daycare and need to gate off my pellet stove.. so i bought 2 fireplace screens because i cant get a hearth gate because the kids will be able to fit their hands in between and touch the stove.. and the daycare inspector said it would be better with some sort of mesh.. can anyone think of a way to secure it to the wall, but still be accessible to move easily enough to clean out my stove every week?
this is a picture of the screen i have and they are joined together but flimsy…

and took 2 sections off and screwed it to the walls. It has a sections that has a latch that works as a door so it’s very convenient when we need to add pellets.

Warm water and 409. Let dry, then use Windex same as you would on a window.
